Coursera: the internet’s largest provider of MOOCs  (massive open online courses) these are university taught courses available for everyone online. Anyone can audit most courses for free, but you need to pay if you want a verified certificate to showcase on a resume. Certifications are available for certain subjects, and they now have master degree programs available. Additionally many courses are free to audit. Check out Coursera here

Edx:  Edx was founded by universities themselves – Harvard and MIT – and is entirely non-profit. Their mission is to provide free and inexpensive education to everyone. They now feature their Global Freshman Academy program, where certain courses can actually be used as credits and transferred to other universities. Many courses are entirely free to audit. Check out Edx here

Udemy: open source platform for online courses. Classes aren’t taught or affiliated with official Universities, anyone can teach classes here. It is worth noting that courses need to be approved and follow a strict set of guidelines before they are posted, and many who teach classes on the Udemy platform are actual professors, teachers or experts in their field. Prices vary based on course, some are free. Many are very affordable. Check out Udemy here

FutureLearn: Classes are partnered with top institutions, learning is more visual and discussion based than just simple lectures. You can also earn certifications and entire master’s degrees with this program. Many courses entirely free to audit. Check out FutureLearn here

Canvas: another MOOC provider, partnered with many different universities and educational institutions. Wide variety of courses, many free to audit.

Lynda: Offers video courses in business, technology and creative skills taught by industry experts. Offers a 30 day free trial, then monthly fee thereafter. All courses on the platform are included with the monthly cost.

Treehouse: learn web design and coding, offers a free 7 day trial and $25/month thereafter

Wealthy Affiliate: Training center for those interested in creating their own online business, focus on affiliate marketing. Weekly live training sessions also available Offers a free starter trial, premium membership is $49/month. Check out Wealthy Affiliate here
