Summary: Totally legit program that can earn you gift cards to companies like Amazon and Starbucks. Not a way to get rich, but may be worth it for loyal Bing users.
Bing Rewards is Microsoft’s loyalty program that rewards users for signing up and searching with Bing. It’s a legitimate program that is very easy to earn points and won’t leave you wasting a bunch of time just to earn a few pennies. I’ve been a member of the program for awhile now, so I thought I’d write up a complete Bing Rewards review so others can decide if it’s a good fit for them or not.
How Microsoft (Bing) Rewards works
All you need to do to get started is sign up for a Microsoft account and you can become a rewards member. If you already have one, all you have to do is log in to your member dashboard and find “rewards”.
As long as you are signed in to Microsoft and searching from Bing.com, you’ll receive credit when you perform searches (up to 50 points daily).
The program used to focus mostly on earning points through searches with Bing.com, but it now has a lot of different ways to earn more points faster with their daily offers, polls, surveys, and shopping. You can even earn points using your Xbox!
Depending on how many points you’ve earned, you can reach higher member levels for added benefits.
Member levels
Level 1: 0-499 monthly points earned
Level 2: You reach level 2 once you earn 500 monthly points. After this is achieved, you will earn 3x more points for web searches.
How do you earn points?
There are several different ways you can earn points through Bing Rewards – searching with Bing, shopping through Microsoft, taking daily polls and quizzes, and through Xbox Live.
Daily searches will earn you 50 points per day, and you earn more when level 2 status is reached.
Additional ways to earn come from daily offers, polls, quizzes, and shopping through the Microsoft store.
Quizzes typically earn you between 30 – 40 points, simple polls are 10 points. They are very quick and easy to do.
Shopping will reward you the most points, for example, there’s an offer today to earn 4,000 points by spending $40 on holiday movies. You can also earn points through your Xbox account by purchasing games. Although reviews say it’s not really worth it.
Payments – How do they “pay” you?
You get “paid” by gift cards, or you can alternatively choose to enter your points in sweepstakes or give to a charity. The most common reward is $5 gift cards for places like Amazon, Walmart, Starbucks, and tons more.
To earn a $5 gift card, you need 5,250 points.
Unfortunately, there’s no cash option, so you can’t redeem your points for PayPal deposits or checks. This may make the program way less appealing for some people. However, Amazon and Walmart gift cards aren’t bad.
Options for payment:
Gift cards – Amazon, Starbucks, Burger King, Sephora, Toys R Us, Xbox Live, Game Stop, and more
Sweepstakes entries – much lower point threshold but much less likely to get rewarded
Charity donations – Teach For America, Boys and Girls Club of America
In order to earn a basic $5 gift card, you need to accumulate over 5,250 points. Sweepstake entries can be entered for 20 points, and they also offer a selection of less desirable prizes that can be redeemed for a bit less.
The Good:
- Mindless way to earn points if you are already using the Bing search engine on a daily basis
- Basically “free” money for searching the internet
- Additional tasks to earn points are quick and easy
- Can earn gift cards for popular places like Amazon, Walmart, Starbucks, and more
The Bad:
- Can’t earn actual money through PayPal or check
- It takes a pretty long time to accumulate enough points for a $5 gift card
- Have to use Bing search engine (a deal-breaker for many)
- Many users claim they get their accounts banned for violating the terms of service but are unsure what they did wrong
- Only available to US residents
Is the Bing (Microsoft) Rewards program really worth it?
This is no way to get rich, but it can be a nice laid back way for some people to earn an extra buck or two online doing what they’re already doing. I like the fact you don’t have to waste time like other “get paid to” sites will make you do like taking lengthy surveys or watching long videos – all the extra tasks Bing offers are pretty quick and easy.
Although it does take a long time to accumulate enough points for the $5 gift card and doesn’t pay out in cash – if you are already a loyal Bing user, it may just be worth it. If you’re a Google lover, the few extra bucks may not be enough to entice you to add it to your search routine.

I love Bing, As I worked as a travel agent on site with Google, whose employees where the most arrogant rude ugly demeaning people. I will not use Google for ANYTHING! So go Bing
I agree with you Kiersten. It’s so easy and fast, especially if one learns the little shortcuts.
I love Bing Rewards because it only takes a minute to max out on the daily searches. It’s true that it doesn’t earn much, but for something that is such a trivial part of my day, I’ve loved getting a few extra dollars from it. Honestly, it was the best back when they offered Swagbucks gift cards because transferring the points over actually got you a tiny bonus because of the different values. So it’s kind of a bummer that they don’t offer those anymore, but the Amazon gift cards are always appreciated.
Yeah, I know. I think if you are a faithful Bing user, or willing to convert to Bing, it can be pretty neat. However, I know a large majority of people actually prefer searching with Google, and if that’s the case it can be a lot more difficult to get the daily search rewards if you aren’t regularly using Bing to search. The rewards are pretty minimal and take a long time to even get $5, so I really only recommend it for people who already use, or would be willing ot exclusively use Bing. That is cool they offered points with Swagbucks.. I think I’d like the Amazon option better though!
