Company: Survey Club
Website: surveyclub.com
Price: Free
Summary: this company isn’t a scam, but most surveys aren’t available through their own website and there’s a high probability you won’t qualify for any surveys. If you’re looking for a legit online survey site, check out Survey Junkie and PaidviewPoint. I recommend those the most. Another website for surveys that comes highly recommended is called Tellwut.
This market research company has been around since 2005 and currently boasts over 16 million members from all around the world. If you’ve been doing your research on Survey Club reviews, don’t skip over this.
What is Survey Club?
Survey Club is an online survey company where you sign up to take surveys for cash or rewards. It is one of the oldest in the book, but the reviews are a mixed bag. It isn’t a scam, but it isn’t the best survey website either. It’s hard to qualify for surveys, the pay isn’t that great, and it’s going to be extremely difficult for anyone to earn any type of real money.
Why online surveys aren’t as great as they seem
Once you create a membership with Survey Club, they present you with a list of current surveys you can participate in. At a glance, it looks pretty neat.
There’s 2 surveys at the top that take a max of 10 minutes each – and you can earn nearly $12 for the both! But still, others are way less worth it, as the general opinion survey takes 30 minutes and only pays out 1 dollar. Many of the others are only a quarter… that isn’t a lot, even if it only takes you 5 minutes. Even if you did a bunch of 5 minute surveys for 25 cents each – after an hour that’s only $3!
But, I spent about 3o minutes going through the surveys they had listed, and answering tons of screening questions.
After 30 minutes, here’s what happened:
- All the surveys available through their website, I didn’t qualify for (after responding to several screening questions)
- All the rest directed me to other survey sites like Survey Say, Pinecone Research and Swagbucks . I don’t want to join a survey site to be directed to another survey site!
The point of screening is to find out if you fit the demographic of people they want to take the survey. They ask questions about age, race, income, employment, marital status, health conditions, or any others thay may pertain to the particular survey.
The problem is the demographic for each survey is small, and most of the time you won’t fit into it. I have been screened out of way more surveys than I ever got invited to take, and it is a giant waste of time. On the upside, at least Survey Club gives you 10 cents for taking the time to answer screening questions, even if you don’t end up qualifying.
Perhaps you may be lucky and fit into a certain demographic that gets invited to take more surveys than normal, but it’s not likely.
Cash out and payment – how much can you earn?
You need to accumulate $20 in rewards in order to cash out, but it can be difficult to get there. While it may be easy enough to earn $5 or maybe even $10, most people will get frustrated and give up before they ever accumulate the full cash out amount.
Also, certain surveys don’t pay cash, but rather reward in gift cards or sweepstake drawings. It’s important to pay attention to the reward so you don’t waste your time on a survey they rewards something you aren’t interested in.
Watch out for spam…
Be careful with giving your information to Survey Club and the additional companies it links you to. The solution is to create a special email address you use for online surveys that is separate from your regular one. Once you sign up for these companies, not only will you get surveys a few times a day or week, but because they encourage you to sign up with so many other research companies you will soon notice an enormous amount of spam in your inbox.
I used my regular email address for surveys once upon a time and had to abandon it because it got too much junk, unfortunately. It’s been sitting for a few years, but this is what the inbox number is right now – that’s almost 20,000 emails!
They must sell your information to other companies, beacuse I have no other explanation for where all these people got my email from!
Conclusion – Would I recommend Survey Club?
Survey Club is a legitimate website to take surveys, but it isn’t going to make you rich. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this to people who are looking for a way to make actual money online. It can be frustrating with the lack of surveys and very high screen out rate, plus even the surveys you may be eligible for most likely won’t earn you much.
If you’re absolutely set on finding legit online survey websites, check out sites like Survey Junkie and PaidviewPoint. Tellwut is another one that comes recommended by others.
I always advocate for people using their time on something they actually enjoy, and earning real money in the process. There are way more lucrative ways to earn money on the internet out there, you don’t have to resort to online surveys if you don’t want to!
Hi Wendy,
You have some very good in-site to some of the wasted time we tend to spend “on the line”.
I started giving my info to survey club and left out some of the vitals.
As the follow-ups started flooding my inbox and I noticed my user name and password openly included in the footnotes, I started to realize which way this survey club was directing their surveys.
“Unsubscribe” is the best thing to do with this job plan.
thank you for your recommendation
Nick
Hello Wendy,
Thank you so much for your insight, I was just about to sign up after seeing their add on glass door promising to pay a decent amount on Glass Door. I cannot imaging trading my valuable time for $0.25 even if I wasn’t paying for internet or if I was jobless. There is so much out there to be done like personal development or even volunteering which does a lot for the mind and soul.
I should have checked your review before wasting my time signing with SurveyClub. You are correct, qualifying for surveys is probably not going to happen for me. Wrong age, location and nationality.
Thank you for your article. It really saved me a-lot time not having to pursue this company.
Can you recommend sites for working at home? I have been a photographer, artist, and gardener.
I enjoy research, movies, history, and politics.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Glad I could save you the time 🙂 Have you checked out my #1 recommendation? It will teach you how to take on of your interests, like photography or gardening, and turn it into a full time business online. You can check it out for free 🙂
