Wealthy Affiliate vs. Income School’s Project 24: And the Winner Is?

November 20, 2019 by Wendy Leave a Comment

If you’re searching to learn how to make money online these two programs might just be, in my opinion, hands-down the best training programs for beginners and even experienced website owners. This will be a comparison of Wealthy Affiliate vs. Income School’s Project 24 training platform! But is one a clear winner?

Summary: This isn’t another review to tell you Wealthy Affiliate is better than Project 24. I honestly don’t think either is better, but they are a little different. Wealthy Affiliate takes an “all-in-one” approach with including tools, a community, website hosting, and training all within their membership. Project 24 might not have all the extras, but they’re a community/forum based membership with very specific, step-by-step training that is more in-depth, specific, and guided than what is offered at Wealthy Affiliate.

Honestly, they’re both solid training that’ll teach you how to start up a niche website and earn money. But if you’re looking for a detailed comparison between the two, check this out first.

A little about Wealthy Affiliate

Kyle and Carson created Wealthy Affiliate back in 2005. At the time, it was launched as a simple keyword tool but it has evolved into a thriving community for internet marketers that not only includes step-by-step training but also their own keyword tool, managed WordPress hosting, weekly live training events, member added training material, and even their own domain platform.

It is well established, well-trusted, and has been around for a very long time.

A little about Income School’s Project 24

Project 24 was created by Rick and Jimmy from Income School. It is a new program, but they’re continuously updating and improving the training and content inside.

This platform doesn’t have all the “bells and whistles” of Wealthy Affiliate, but it’s definitely solid. It provides you with step-by-step actionable training to take your first blog from zero to full-time income in 2 years.

They also have a community forum you can go to get help and advice.

These guys have the backing to prove their steps work – several niche websites that are generating over 1 million dollars per year. They even have a page that links you to each website and explains how much money it makes and the monetization methods it uses.

Wealthy Affiliate vs. Project 24 Training – how does it compare?

Both Income School’s Project 24 and Wealthy Affiliate teach you how to build out a niche website

Pick a niche, build out great content, rank in Google. That is what you’ll find as the core foundation of both of these training programs.

These programs teach essentially the same strategies for getting the core of your website traffic – ranking in Google with lower competition keywords

Both platforms emphasize using lower competition, long-tail keywords to rank in search engines like Google to get traffic

This is most important as you build out a new website because a smaller, less-established site can easily rank for a longer tail keyword with not much competition over a more popular one. This allows you to leverage search engine traffic even with a fairly new website (less than a year).

Neither program teaches backlinking strategies and teaches you how to write great content

They also both place zero emphasis on backlinking strategies that are so common among most SEO training and gurus.

Income School shares Google’s #1 ranking factor…

Google arguably cares the most about is content RELEVANCE. Providing the best experience possible for keyword relevance is the most important factor.

This is the same stuff that Kyle from Wealthy Affiliate has been teaching forever, and it’s solid advice.

These product owners help their students

Both Kyle and Carson from Wealthy Affiliate, and Rick and Jimmy from Project 24 are active within their own platforms.

Both offer FREE training

You’re probably familiar with Wealthy Affiliate’s free starter membership, and it’s nice to be able to test out the program before you invest any money into it.

While Income School does not offer a free version of its Project 24 program, their YouTube channel is a pretty good platform for testing out if their program is right for you because you already know pretty much exactly what you’ll be doing and what they teach. The videos they put out are incredibly valuable, and you can still learn a lot with their YouTube channel alone.

In either case, they’re both just not as step-by-step, specific and in-depth as if you signed up for their course (which is what many people need!)

Both provide a community, and the owners are active

With both platforms, you’ll get access to a community-based membership site in which you’ll be able to ask questions if you need help with something.

The owners are both active within these communities as well, although the majority of the help you receive will be from other members.

What makes them different?

Despite their general similarities, there are also differences to be noted.

Key features and extras

The most obvious difference is in the features – Wealthy Affiliate offers extras like hosting, live chat, weekly webinars, and various tools within their platform, whereas Income School’s Project 24 is focused on the community forum and step-by-step training. They do have an exclusive member-only podcast though.

Aside from that, the training is actually where these two programs differ the most.

While they both teach essentially the same fundamental concept, there are some things that aren’t quite the same.

Project 24 is more guided and specific with their training, whereas Wealthy Affiliate is a bit more generalized, at least in the overall sense.

Project 24 Training

Project 24 is actually laying you with a complete, step-by-step blueprint to follow for 24 months. They teach you exactly how to pick a niche, what types of articles to write (the “content mix”), and how to actually write the article well. You’re also going to have a complete timeline to follow along with from start till the 2-year mark, with expectations on where you should be at.

They teach you how to diversify your income with your blog by using a mix of ads, affiliate links, and creating your own info product.

You’re also going to be taught things like how to hire and train writers, and how to do photography for your blog. These are things that WA doesn’t teach.

Wealthy Affiliate Training

Wealthy Affiliate is good at teaching you how to get a website up and running, get traffic, and how to monetize that traffic, but the training is a bit more open-ended for the long haul.

Beyond that, the training tends to be scattered. While they do have a ton of additional training material in the community, from member-added training courses to the library of weekly webinars, it’s not a clear step-by-step guide to follow past the beginning stages.

I don’t think either is better, they’re just different.

Wealthy Affiliate does offer a lot more training on different aspects of digital marketing like local marketing and PPC, but Project 24 covers in-depth how to create your own info product and how to hire and train writers when you’re ready.

Price of Project 24 vs Wealthy Affiliate

Project 24 is more costly than Wealthy Affiliate compared to their yearly price, at least for the first year.

After the first year, Wealthy Affiliate is technically more expensive. But keep in mind your website hosting is included within their membership (for up to 25 domains).

Wealthy Affiliate pros vs. cons

Pros

  • Free membership option
  • Huge community, lots of help
  • Owners who care about helping others
  • Hosting included
  • Proven training that works – (I can attest)
  • Teaches you to build a solid foundation for building a business online
  • Continually updated platform

Cons

  • Some may feel like it’s too overwhelming – there is A LOT going on and it can be sort of “busy”
  • Some complain there’s just not enough direction given and still feel like they’re “missing” a piece of the puzzle
  • No clear course of action for past your first year

Income School pros vs. cons

Pros

  • Follow a complete 2-year blueprint, there’s no guessing what to do
  • Teaches you to build a solid foundation for building a business online
  • Owners who have proven their steps work and genuinely care about helping others
  • Training continuously updated and added to – not a static guide
  • Smaller community feel

Cons

  • You’ll have to pay for your hosting in addition to your Project 24 membership cost
  • No monthly price option
  • Might feel a little limited for some if you want to do your own thing and not follow an exact recipe

The Bottom Line

For anyone looking to seriously learn how to make money from niche websites, both of these training programs are where it’s at. I don’t believe that there is actually a winner, because they’re both great programs and each as their own thing going for it.

Wealthy Affiliate has a free point of entry and teaches you a pretty solid foundation for building an online business. There training is a little more open-ended than Project 24, but it’s still specific enough to work.

Try Wealthy Affiliate for $0

Others may prefer the more structured, complete blueprint style provided by Project 24. Their style may be a little different, but it still gets results. If you need a more specific guide on EXACTLY what to do along the way and want to get more inside the minds of Ricky and Jim, you can’t go wrong with Income School.
